Each syndicate has different requirements for your submission package, so read the instructions carefully. You don't have to obtain a copyright, simply placing "© 2010 Your Name" on the comics make them yours by default. You can register your comic at the US copyright office for a nominal fee for extra protection in case of infringement, but until you're accepted, it doesn't really matter anyway. Trademark is a different, more expensive matter and is best left alone until your have a popular property on your hands. |

| How to sell a cartoon strip to papers, etc.? I've been looking for hours for a way to market a new cartoon strip series I've been developing for a couple few months now. I can't find a way to present it to people that might use it, papers, magazines, that sort of stuff. I live in Orlando, Florida. | The thing about good, successful comics is that they are a mirror into which the reader can see the humor in his/her own life. One that I haven't seen since I was a guy (in the 50's) and enjoyed a whole lot was "There ought to be a Law". Very humorous and to the point, at most a two panel.
